Urban Shed
Farm Stand
As a pro-bono project, Trillium designed an ‘Urban Shed’ to sit in the middle of a farm plot in the food desert of north-central Bridgeport. A group called GVI was creating an organic farm on a vacant city lot. It served as a local CSA and employment training facility for the surrounding neighborhoods. The shed needed to house supply closets, a small kitchen, refrigerators, and an open space for training, community meetings, and events.
The Urban Shed was built out of sustainable, easy to source materials that could be assembled quickly by lightly trained individuals. It had the ability to open fully during good weather or close down on cold and rainy days. To the public it served as a farm stand selling produce, a CSA, and an inspiration
