Upstate NY Meadow House

Modern Prairie-Style Home

This modern Prairie-style-inspired home will sit in a stunning rural setting with views on every side. It's composed of two intersecting volumes, one for public use, and one for private. The public space will have a south wall of alternating windows and sliding glass doors, all with triple-pane, high-efficiency glass. Southern sunlight will brighten the wing, and access to the wraparound deck will let guests circulate with ease. A large south-facing roof will allow for ample solar energy opportunities, as the home is striving to be Net Zero.  Cathedral and flat ceilings provides both open and cozy spaces. Additionally, bringing stone and wood materials inside inspires a natural feel.

The private space features a western-facing den which sits close to the primary bed and bath suite. Living on the primary level will help the couple age in place without the hassle of stairs. The lower level provides a cozy set of rooms for guests, returning children, and eventually, grandchildren. A walkout will allow even more access to the yard, especially for the grandkids and grandpups. All bedrooms will have ample eastern windows to tap into the clients' circadian rhythms.
