Net Zero Mountain House
A Hillside Forever Home for a Retired Couple
When a couple found a hillside site off a beautiful winding road in Connecticut, they fell in love with the view. Despite the difficulties the site presented, we created a house perfectly situated to keep the view front and center.
Designed as a forever home with aging in place top of mind, the house is single story, but has an expansive front to back great room with two-story windows, creating a feeling of living amongst the treetops. Conceived as a mountain home with modern flair, wood timber trusses lend character and warmth to the space. A deck wraps around the sides, ending in a screened porch. There’s also a woodworking studio insulated for noise and the space above the garage will have a kitchen and bathroom so it can be used as an office or guest suite.
This house will be Net Zero- it will not create any greenhouse gases. The home will also provide the highest standard in indoor air quality, comfortable temperatures, and energy efficiency.
