Ledge and Cedar House
A Modern, Net Zero, Light-Filled Home
Nestled between a cluster of cragged rocks and the peak of a hilly plot of land in Pound Ridge, New York sits our Ledge and Cedar House. A composition of asymmetrical cuboid forms, the house allows for a playful dichotomy between its facades.
A courtyard (or “aangan”) inspired by those in vernacular Indian homes, sits next to the double-height living space. Other highlights include a double-height entry, a tranquil floor-to-ceiling glass breezeway, a three-sided fireplace with built-in shelving, and a buffet separating the dining and formal living rooms.
The Ledge and Cedar House was designed with uncompromising consideration for our planet and the health of its occupants. Its combination of passive elements including double-stud wall construction, triple-paned windows, careful programmatic and site orientation, and diligently designed building systems, mean that Cedar Ledge House will be Net Zero.
