A Two-Story Bump Out Brightens this Family Home
A colonial home from the 1930s needed a more open floor plan, more natural light, and a bigger kitchen. Additionally, the clients' teenagers wanted an improved recreation room in the basement, and the parents wanted a better connection between the kitchen and the recreation space below. The solution was a glass box expansion to the back of the house. This light-filled room with an arched ceiling more than doubled the size of the kitchen, and successfully provided a connection to the basement with a new staircase.
