This 1950s Ranch was in dire need of renovation when the new owners purchased it. They hired Trillium to give it a full Deep Energy Retrofit. We wrapped the walls and roof in continuous insulation, replaced the windows with triple-pane-European ones, air-sealed and insulated the wall cavities form the inside, and replaced oil-based heat with Air Source Heat Pumps and Energy Recovery Ventilators to ensure efficient heating and cooling, and excellent indoor air quality. All of the materials were LEED approved in regard to sourcing and non-toxic properties. PV Solar Panels were installed with battery backup to ensure Net Zero performance, as well as resiliency. This house, when coupled with its homesteading-style gardens, creates a truly sustainable and exemplary green home.
